I hunted this for over a year. Yes many are easily available a lot of fakes a lot of ruined juice inside. After vetting and corresponding over a month with a private seller I decided to take the risk. No doubt the bottle is from the 60’s, but my big question is what’s inside. That search for that instant memory to times past.
I get it Guerlain there is no way to mass replicate this on a McDonald’s level of quality control. So you easily give into backing IFRA for millions of profit a year. There is no denying the smell in this bottle is thousands times better than the cheap chemicals you buy in today’s version easily had for up to 70% off at times. We call it selling out who can blame them. While I admittedly enjoy the “guerlinade” and own a few, it is nothing compared to this beauty.
Now to the bottle. This is hands down the best Chypre I have put on skin and put my nose on, bar none. There are perfumers doing really good stuff that don’t adhere to the above, but what’s in this bottle I will treasure and keep as long as I can. I have nose drooled over so many that have had this always wondering. The beauty in this is the composition perfectly balanced. You get a soft sillage that you just want to be in and around. Pleasing notes that compliment and play off of each other like nothing else. It’s why this basic formula is still being attempted by almost every perfume house that exists. A Chypre.
