New Sibet Notes Carnation, mint, ash, leather, iris, cistus, fur accord, moss Fragrance Quick Story Slumberhouse is unapologetically loud off your skin. For Sillage this is the one that without blowing are the beasts in my collection Very lucky to own this one. Budget was more than blown found it deep in threads. Got it. If you have a chance forget the notes and just let this take you on a journey for the day. I like to go to new cities and with no gps or whatever just take off and walk it. Boston check, Chicago check, New York check, Portland check, Vancouver BC, Seattle you guys get the picture. This is my fragrance for that. Slumberhouse is my go to house for adventure fragrances. Although not if I am sweating, but heavy walking most definitely. Fragrance in my opinion compared to Perfumes Notes Spring time in Hobbit land. This is a spring time manly scent. One of my favorites. Fresh and dirty. It’s not a burnt cigarette ash. It’s some wood ash, maybe some suut in there also. Volcanic ash. This hits you one every part of the nose I think a lemon would play really well right here on the top. It has powders and it’s like a big shot at them. Like punk rockers coming onto the scene in the early 80’s and turning mascara and long hair upside down. Taking what someone would know about powders and mind bending it into New Sibet. Kicking Powder right in it’s Yuuuuuuu Whuuuuuu. Mint is are aromatic against the ash. Who would do that oh Slumber house. Then let’s put the meanest guy notes heavy in a perfume and put in the heaviest of feminine notes Iris. It’s the girl at the punk rock show that is in the middle of the craziness just loving it and everyone loving her. It’s a good time on the skin. This is my first introduction to goat hair. It is a heavy note in this and plays really well with the ash adding more depth to that fume. Every note hits with power on top of the Dark and Fresh Slumber Accord. This accord is addicting to my nose it strikes me in the weirdest of times. Very aggressive and go and get it attitude. Dry down: 15 hours still on skin

  1. Thx Brandon! Enjoyed your review as always. Goat hair, wow, got to put my nose on that some day. Share your urban wanderlust. Love streetfood and old style hardware stores. Worked as a line cook for a big chunk of my life. One thing that stuck with me reading kitchen confidential was always be dressed and ready to work 20 min before shift starts. I always did that. It is my humble homage to Anthony Bourdain, may he rest in peace. Sorry for hogging comment space.

    1. Awesome comment. As soon as I get to a computer will add a Wanderlust story, I have a ton. As far as comment space we can't talk about AB enough. I remember the first time I saw him. It was a marathon of no reservations I was hooked. If I were to visit countries that is exactly how I like to do it. Meet real people get totally emersed in their culture and actually add value to humanity his work although very recognized I think it is still underrated.

  2. Another house I need to check out . How about a summer list? Looking for some high quality summer scents, bought some nishane samples( hacivat and ambra calabria) which I'm waiting to test along with strangers salted green mango, I really wish areej le dore would make a summer citrus freshie…

    1. I have been cooking up a summer list as I have found a couple fragrances in the past week really work out. Yes on Areej Le Dore doing a freshie. Really curious what direction he would go for a base?

  3. Great metaphor with the “pretty punk rocker”; I wish Josh could offer a sample set of EVERYTHING, and then when the season came around, you would have had time to plan out (and save for) which bottles you want. I want to try them all, but dealing with the stock outages and blind buys and the unusual scents prevents me from buying bottles.
I love the “who” that you do for each scent. It’s another powerfully descriptive way to explain the impression of a scent. Bourdain was ????. What a good guy; trying to shine a light on cultures, issues, people that often go ignored.
Please don’t stop the “who.” ????

    1. Amy thanks so much for this comment. Imagine Bourdain doing perfume reviews that would be insane. I mean he makes the most basic of pasta dishes sound like the best thing ever. Slumberhouse is one person doing it his own way. He could be a lot bigger. But that might be part of the charm.

    1. @Therapeutic Fragrance More like a Cuir de Russie style leather if memory serves correct. I remember Kafkaesque mentioning the goat hair was a fantasy note but i never investigated further.

    2. It is a goat fir accord that Kafkaesque references I wonder if has updated his formula or maybe Pryn could be using an accord also in his. I know he messes with a lot of synthetics as well the note smell very similar in both.

  4. It's funny how when you give smell something like that to someone who's not a perfumery madman like us, they don't usually like something like the Orris root here, the deer musk or the oud in other fragrances, the most expensive ingredients that are not appreciated, in the end they are always acquired tastes for most people. IMO

  5. Exactly! It's a shame because you have to go through all of this to understand your personal taste as well. Orris root is the perfect example most only know of it's powder lip stick facet. But it can do so much against animals. I get why it's one of the main ingredients in perfume.
