Fragrance Quick Story

My favorite way to wear oud is to pour it on.  On one wearing, I did a full twenty sprays—count them, twenty sprays!  But I chose well, because I already had a good idea of what this was.  This is flat-out one of the best oud perfumes I have put to skin. I’m not talking about oud used to enhance other ingredients such as florals, woods, and spices, but an actual well-chosen oud for people to wear in its own right.  It’s not a starter oud, but it’s not intimidating, either. If oud has intrigued you and you have liked it softly in other fragrances (I have many reviews on them; check them out), this is a next step to discovering this precious oil.

It is animalic in all of the best of ways.  It has strong medicinal properties that waft in the air as the imaginary note of love.  On every whiff, you can just feel your emotions vitalized. The 120-plus aromachemicals go straight into the head and sharpen all those sensors, giving feedback of what you are experiencing.  A mental shift is instantaneous into a wonder of what could be.

I have shared my thoughts extensively on oud and rose; yes, if these two are synthetic, they have overstayed their welcome.  Synthetics suck, and this shows why. Naturals can change so drastically from so many variables, it strikes awe as to what will I smell next.

I wish Auphorie would go all natural, but I admire their devotion to veganism.  They aren’t even willing to use authentic ambergris. Somehow, these two just use ingredients that work.  Their substitute is linear, yes, but doesn’t over-freshen or clean up the fragrance. They pick very good variations of the ambergris and musks to use in their perfumes to let their high-quality naturals shine and provide the change to the rest of the perfume.

This is the best-smelling synthetic ambergris I have put my nose to.

Fan boy? Yes, I’m watching everything they do.  I admire their passion, yes, and I can smell every ounce of it in what they present in a bottle.

Seriously, if you struggle with thoughts of doubt, anxiety, or worry of any kind, this is a fear-killer perfume.  It changes the course of thought instantly. It's a bottle of memories waiting to be made that will take you into the next transition in your life.

Fragrance in my opinion compared to Perfume’s Notes

I like when I smell jasmine used like this.  The composition uses the sharp, more animalic characteristic in jasmine.  Most of the time, it is listed in perfume as Jasmine Sambac. And you get one of my favorite floral accords that exists: strong rose against animalics. This lets the more earthy and animalic characteristics of oud come out and swirl around the two, making for a killer fume that is so heavenly, you don’t want the dance to stop.

Their ambergris note is carried through the whole wearing and provides a clean airiness that adds to the composition.  Their musk does the same thing. It’s a golden sweet musk that plays a little honeyish behind everything.

The wearing of the fragrance is exactly like wearing oud.  Oud changes and offers different aromatic whiffs throughout the entire wearing.  Sometimes you get more floral, sometimes you get a sweet air, and sometimes you get straight-up medicinal dark, animalic oud.  The entire wearing creates emotions that fit me perfectly, and its mood will change in a whiff.
