Fragrance Overview

Presentation is perfect.  Very heavy weighted bottle; you can tell there is something great inside.  A royal hat for a top, a pasted-on front with a very nice stamped gold color.  Only black and gold, very nice.  Atomizer works very well.

Composition, Composition, Composition.  Rasei Fort, you are a master painter with liquids.  The sniff from the very beginning of this is just mesmerizing.  This is a master class on blending and on what a bunch of different ingredients can be together.  Sweet, floral, refreshing, without synthetic overkill.

A soft medium scent, powerful when close to the nose, with projection around a foot.

This is a starter oud starter that will help guide you down the path of oud.  The mix of ambergris and oud to balance out this symphony is unbelievable.

This is one of the purest, cleanest smells I have ever put my nose on.  I don’t want to say it’s soapy, but it has such a clean scent, it is amazing.  It has that royal opening, fresh fruit and just a quality of scent that feels like it belongs on royalty.

Fragrance Review

Fresh Fruit with apple heading the bowl.  Lightly handed citrus but royal, like I said above.  The florals that barely stand out for me are the petitgrain and rose.  Everything else goes on to form a majestic accord.

I have spoken about this, and it is prudent to speak about it here.  This is about composition, not notes.  I’ll explain my position.  Every note that is listed is made to form an accord, like a symphony of instruments coming together to form music that coheres.  You just want to sit back and listen to the majesty of the composition.  These are nose ingredients that come together to please the nose.  The oud supports everything in the accord and enhances it; the same goes for the ambergris.

The accord to me is fresh: ocean fresh, fruit fresh, flower fresh.  It is a new accord that I have never smelled before.

Yes, this doesn’t last long, but I am so OK with it.  After all of this testing and wearing, I really don’t want him to pour in Ambroxan, ISO E, or any other synthetic musk to make it last.  I hate having those on my skin for hours after all of the good stuff has worn off.  This is a house that I could own everything from.

Keep doing what you do, Rasei.

This is a maestro giving us a masterpiece to enjoy and wear.

From the Perfumer - A tribute to the opulence and glory of the Ottoman Sultan Empire, Fatih Sultan Mehmed is a grand fragrance indeed, well worthy of the outsized reputation of Mehmed the Conqueror. Crisp, juicy apple bursts off the skin from the very first spritz, while a heart of romantically smooth flowerslush Damask rose and vibrant irisbalances expertly against gorgeously textured, gently spicy ambergris, keeping the floral heart both lively and unisex. Finally, a sumptuous dry-down of woods, musks, and resins further accentuates the lavish character of the scent, allowing the complexity of the ingredients to remain front and center while never feeling as heavy or spice-laden as your typical exotic oriental. Ambergris lovers, we recommend getting your hands on this scent todayput simply, Fatih Sultan Mehmed smells like a million bucks.
