*** UPDATE *** I did not know this at time of review Vero Kern passed away December 18, 2018 May this be a tribute to her legacy. Just by this 3ML I can say that she touched me in a way only few perfumers have. No hyperbole, this was a special scent, by someone who gave their all. Vero you will be missed and having never met you have touched me. Perfume is amazing. * * * * * * The one I sat on too long while learning about limited releases. I make this review to more focus on the house and it’s use of tobacco. Her whole thought behind this was using tobacco in a new way and showing off the plant’s medicinal properties. The osmanthus and tobacco with a honeyed melon underneath I quite like this fragrance. Not quite like I really like. This is a full modern masculine oriental in my opinion. My kinda powderiness I didn’t know I had one, but this is it. This is a composition above and beyond. Don’t mean to repeat, but when you go through ten samples that are just regurgitated synthetic wannabe mixtures you get to this and the nose don’t lie. You can just sniff the beauty of the perfumer. The care that went into choosing and placing ingredients. Not working by cost, but by methodical care of how the world would receive her creation. You can smell the passion, it truly comes through. Very good Vanilla and amber. You can feel the perfumer giving you hugs as each note is added and blended. I don’t know why but this is the powdery I like. It is desert powdery vanilla at once. I am keeping an eye out if this will be released again, the powdery depth adds a level against the tobacco I can’t put into words. This is something that I want to have to be able to wear. So far this is my favorite use of powders yes even taking over the Powders in Les Anneess which I went crazy for and still do. No not better just the powder note creates something off my skin that my nose literally craves. I am almost out of this 3ml and really wish I had more. Five wearing over a years time and first sniff always brings me back to the first day I wore this. It was one of the first samples I had ever gotten and really didn’t know much about much outside of a handful of scents. This opened me up to my first oriental and now all orientals are held against this. I can’t help it. Her perfumes sell out fast I now know and will keep an eye out. This is the problem with the strategy of ordering tons of samples and then by the time you get to something it is sold out. Heck Bogue’s new one if you ordered the sample by the time it was shipped you were already to late. Know I find myself getting to know perfumer’s not by words but through smell. I have a deep appreciation just by what they have composed in a bottle Vero Kern is one perfumer that stands out, very good mind at what she wants and is clearly translated into ingredients.
