Best Fougere 2020 Rising Mysore

Ok all experts I am just a novice and as always live it out in front

I know Musk Lave was marketed as a Barbershop Fougere. But I can’t get over the fact it wears more like a Chypre to me. My understanding of Chypre is that it contains an accord of citrus, labdanum and oakmoss that give it that effect. This has all three and are most prominent to my nose. YES it has lavender in abundance but does that automate it into a barbershop fougere? IMO this is more of a Chypre than Fougere and isn’t a strong dose of Coumarin a must?

Okay my Fouger pick is not traditional at all, BUT (A BIG BUT) It has the most important part of what I would call a fougere. That sparkly clean zingy fresh aromatic that everything hangs on. To this date I am wracking my brain in my own studio trying to figure out what they did to accomplish this all naturally. It’s a true genius accord they own. But this is what I would categorize as a barbershop. In no way is it traditional but it really feels like you got that clean buzz more than the latter.

Feel free to hammer away in these comments. No right or wrong as these two categories have been pulverized by perfume houses over the last century. A lot of you bring more experience to this conversation than I ever could. I’m just tired of people telling me Musk Lave isn’t a Chypre when by all definitions I’ve found, it truly is.

Some of my first words captured on video after smelling this for the first time. Some things you just know.

Go ahead tell Rachel you can’t do it. You will be eating your words before you know it. I have talked to numerous perfumers telling me it’s impossible to be all natural with certain fruits. The best I got with anyone was that you would be able to get the bright crisp fruit top note at best for six months before totally losing it. Well I’m sitting on my bottle of a year now and BOOM, it’s got that passion. Passion fruit that is bright, crisp and alive. I was told that it was a batch about six months from when she sent it to me so we are getting close to that typical two year shelf life. Naturals like no one else in the world and this passion fruit note leads the way.

Fragrance is by Di Sir - Keman

This uses Yuzu to open. And is the light bright of the Rose and Oud World. It lights up like spring. Full on cherry blossom bloom in D.C. As you are out walking around smells of spring surround it in the woods. Another fragrance in my collection I still don’t fully know and gives a different adventure everytime I wear.

Russian Adam’s voice in the video of my review came to my phone after I wore this for the first time. I ripped open the package put this on first and wasn’t that impressed. Ten minutes later I was blown away. I knew from working with Sandalwood on my own that this was one of the best Sandalwood mystery fragrances ever.

My first words to him was this was going to be misunderstood and in the coming days with reviews pouring out it sure was. One of my favorite things about RA is the incredible risk he takes. He didn’t need to release samples early but he did and nearly every reviewer was able to hammer these out until the official release. This is unheard of. For sales he didn’t need that at all, he’s already maxed out on word of mouth, but he did. Another notch of respect that I have for the perfumer.

Back to Santal this was his recorded voice that happened that same night in the opening of the video. I got it about 2AM my time and was floored. He went on to explaining if people want to smell sandalwood in a fragrance you almost have to give them just sandalwood as the material loses itself in composition and builds up other ingredients. The tranfroming it does in the wear can be seen from wearing this composition.

Adding to the legend of SG is another rist. The durian note. Just Brilliant, brilliant.

I firmly stand by all praise I gave to this fragrance.

Unbeliebable performance. This is all vegan I believe. Really strong heart and top notes. She foregoes synthetic musks and make this all natural. As well as staying away from animalic musks which is a huge challenge, but she makes it work. And work well.
