Here is a lesson of what just a little change does to an entire fragrance. I have been through over ten peoples view on Layton Exclusif and most just say how entirely different it is from Layton. And yes it is. The lesson is all that is changed is no vanilla and woods added. This is from the director of the brand himself. You could not believe the sophistication this thing has. It’s like it is the best woods in the world. This is hands down sophistication in an atomizer. The house accord was made for this or so it seems to a tea. The fragrance wants to be so dark but the yin and yang just compliment each other in a perfect circle of a fan. Fragrance in my opinion compared to Perfumes Notes House accord is present with a rich resinous overtone that never settles in but floats in the air. This is so well blended that nothing sticks out. I heard him talk about how simple this is then this is flat out luck. This is sophisticated luxury. If I ever get the chance to go on a yacht you know one with a helicopter and garage for your cars when you come to port. This is the smell I would expect in the lounge area in a big leather chair with mounted trophies. Grapefruit and mandarin shine on top for a good hour. A crisp bright air floats around you. Only one real significant transition and just a fantastic perfume that begs, no wrong word demands to be noticed. The guaiac wood form a strong base this is the most guaiac wood that I have seen in a mainstream fragrance and there is just nothing that can stop this house’s secret sauce of an accord. Powders only enhance a mid layer there are glides of powders but just a twirled accord never standing on their own. The main notes I can pull are the coffee, guaiac, and amber. This is a sillage wonder. I have herod and the sillage is very soft same with layton. All these dark notes just add a sophistication to the ozonic mist that is a first for me. I am really surprised that people like this dry down so much. This is a guaiac bomb and I myself am in love. Such a good wood dry down it’s insane that this can be bought from a mall.

I haven’t tried this but haven’t really been taken by any of the others I’ve tried. Sounds worth a sniff.
Even though this is the darkest PDM you don't get away from that airy mass pleasing sillage thing that all of them have. These are the ones I wear when I am around everyone in business situations. I don't think I would ever wear them for just myself, if that makes since. So high score is for my choice of mass pleasing scents I can put up with category.????
The big A. Lol. Yeah nobody needs to hear anymore.
Definitely 100% synthetic, I own it and like it but it falls apart into a generic ”niche perfume” dry down.
TONS OF NORLIMBANOL AND ISO E SUPER
Keep up the reviews though! ????
Absolutely right about dry down and great call on iso e super. They do use a lot of naturals to be fair. I have tested PDM pretty thoroughly and feel confident in vouching for them. Yes the problem is the amount their house accord takes over on the wearing. This particular one is the heaviest I have seen them use base naturals in, particularly the guaiac note. Yes half of the wearing is waiting for the synthetic accord to burn off and for the most part that's why most people like these kinds of frags. I put this in designer category or mainstream is a better term. My collection is less than 5% of these kinds of frags they are for time when I literally have to please people around me at networking events. Other than that I would not bother wearing or reviewing as I wear fragrances for myself and not others. PDM made it because of the use of naturals in my collection. To my knowledge I think I only have one perfume that is pretty much 100% synthetic in the collection. Unless Guerlain has me entirely fooled.
Love your passion for this fragrance. I own a full bottle of Layton and recently acquired a 10ml decant of Exclusif. I was definitely taken aback at first. Definitely much different than original Layton. The more that I sample it the more it I love it. It has enough of the Layton dna, while bringing it up to the next level and increasing the maturity of the scent. I wish I could smell this all day, in my home, in my car, everywhere.
Love the description
I know respect this comment a lot more know that I understand these were all given away to reviewers for the most part.
