This is as delicate an oud that you can get. Only lightly dusted, as I am sure any more would overtake every subtle note in this fragrance. This is one of the best price-per-ml creations with real oud in it that exists. If you were looking for a summer oud, this is it. If you were looking for a starter oud, this is it. This is a picnic at the edge of the woods without ever entering. Where all the kindling is and big open space. You know where you are safe. You feel like you went camping without going into the deep woods. That is this fragrance and a great entry into the wonderful forest of oud.
I did reach out to the perfumer to double check the authenticity of using real oud before purchasing. And I can say there is a small peck on the cheek of oud in here. This is enough to show you all the delicacies that oud can bring. Keep in mind that this is the Vietnamese variety, not kinam, so it is supposed to bring tang, but only the subtle characteristics of the essential oil show up here.
Overall, personally I want more, but it is classed as an EDT, meant to be sprayed on liberally like a cologne, and extremely affordable for niche oud. That being said, the galbanum, cedar, and mineral notes stand out the entire wear. I want more yuzu and oud, but arguably they are the most expensive ingredients to add to the composition.
I barely get yuzu on skin, and it dissipates quickly. I can get the smallest nuances of the oud, and it only adds to other notes and never shows off its true power. As an oud head, I am always looking for that. The subtlety I do enjoy, but there is no subtle quality with the cedar note. It is a common Atlas cedar used pretty heavily. I can sense the mineral notes ingrained in the cedar, and the galbanum provides a resinous top that is manly.
I can smell the petitgrain well into the heart and drydown. It adds an almost metallic feel with minerals. The myrrh never comes out alone or other citruses.
Overall, I enjoy it, but it leaves me wondering what could have been with a little more oud and yuzu.
