Bogue just wows me on every opening, it’s one of those when you know your getting it. You prepare for and you can’t wait. Maai is no different. Opening in an animalic floral musk to my nose. Getting used to this musk it is from fruit. A different leather to me starts to come through in the heart. Leather fruit. I have smelled these in notes of ouds, but a first all natural in perfumery. As the heart continues to evolve through all the animalics a fresh soap develops off my skin. So far deep animalics keep this in check. I am playing with a ton of Chypre of course old school with the best ingredients available just is something special. Like a perfectly cooked steak. But you have someone come along give you some of what you know and really think through and add to what is known and make it his. Not only his, but very modern taking the sniffs deeper on the fron and back of the whiff hitting more of the imagination and opening up new realms of thought of what is possible. The undeniable drydown of oakmoss is here with so many more characters playing on top. Dry down is taking advantage of ambroxan or something. It's not loud just familiar. The first three hours were everything for me on this one

  1. I'm surprised how quiet the community has been about Les Annees 25 myself. There is a portion during the drydown where the iris is a bit too baby powder on me but overall the perfume is just beautiful.

    1. LOL I totally get what your saying, and I am the first one to throw a fit about powder. I don't get it I just love it on this thing against his accord. Just reminds me of being tucked away for the day reading or in an old pub. Curious have you found a difference with yours on age or not?

    1. @Therapeutic Fragrance no i haven't tried it. Been watching reviews to see if blind buy is a risk. Currency conversion and shipping make it a very expensive proposition.

    2. @The Scentinel Don't know where you have to purchase from, but I am luckily able to sample his stuff. If your a lavender fan he changed the game with MEM. From what I know about you I would say MAAI would be your first choice. You know the game better than me, in that we always have to sample. But of all the stuff in my collection this is a short list to the top. It takes all the edges off of Slumberhouse and is blended a lot better IMO. As far as the DNA of the house. More airy and less drunken. Hope that helps a bit.

  2. @Therapeutic Fragrance thanks! Tried to find that comparison. If you don't mind another question, do you find YY to be very animalic or indolic? I'm a fan of frags which are 🙂

  3. I would say YY is indolic, which in the beginning of my journey I would actually use these terms together. And then the prominent DNA of Antonio is stunning stuff. Have you tried MEM. Not to push it, but that seems to have all your looking for. It's one of my all time classic compositions I own.
